On this week’s cover, more details are emerging on the coming regional alignment and what that will mean for future deployments. In FY2014, about 60,000 soldiers will be sent to five regions throughout the world to carry about a variety of missions, as well as any problems that arise in those areas.
Units include the 1st Cavalry Division, 25th Infantry Division, 1st Armored Division and two additional brigade combat teams. As the alignment unfolds, thousands more soldiers will be assigned to even more global activities.
In a throwback to a bygone era, the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii is bringing back the Army’s jungle school, a terrain-specific training program that could come in handy as the Army turns its focus back to the Pacific.
