e Winter Olympics, the call is out for one of them to be picked as flag bearer for the U.S. during the Parade of Nations in Sochi, Russia.NBC raised the question, and its list of top picks for flag bearer on the NBC Olympics website includes two from the Army contingent: Capt. Chris Fogt and veteran Steven Holcomb. The list includes several other Olympic competitors.
A Facebook page for soldiers, U.S Army W.T.F! moments, is rallying soldiers to vote for Fogt, an Iraq veteran who’s on the bobsled team Night Train, along with Holcomb, who is pictured above. Fogt is pictured below.
Soldiers going to the Olympics, in addition to Fogt and Holcomb, are Sgt. Nick Cunningham, Sgt. Justin Olsen, Sgt. Dallas Robinson, Sgt. Preston Griffall and Sgt. Matt Mortensen. Three military family members are going: Ashley Wagner, and sisters Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux.

I think a solider should carry the flag. I am also a veteran and fought for it.
If there is a Veteran at the Olympics they should always be the one carrying the flag If no veteran is available an active duty member of the Armed Forces should do it.
My son and two grandsons are in the Army…..I just want someone of the Armed Forces to carry the flag!

I believe that Veterans who participate in the Olympics should carry the Flag. They fought for that right!!
I believe we should stick to the way the flag bearer has always been picked, each team (ski, cross country, etc) selects a nominee and than the nominees are voted on by the team capitains and the flag bearer is elected this way. WHy change something that has been in place for a number of Olympics?
I am also a vet and feel an Active duty military member should carry the flag. There is still the closing ceremony, unless BJK has that spot all locked up.
